Lord Shiva is considered to be very powerful among all of the almighty in Hindu mythology. Shivratri Pooja is done to please Lord Shiva so that he can bestow his devotees with all of his blessings. It is important to keep fast on this day as all the desires are being fulfilled on this day. On this day if the Mrutyunjaya mantra is being recited then the person comes out of the cycle of birth and death.
How to do Shivratri Pooja
Shivratri Pooja is started by waking up early, taking a bath, applying ash on the forehead, lighting the diya in front of the Lord Shiva idol and offering bilva leaves. Fast is being kept for the whole day and meditation is done. If devotees stay awake during the night then it is necessary to do Pooja at regular intervals and enchant the mantras. Shivratri Pooja can be completed on the next day morning at 5.00 a.m. and fast can be broken after having a bathe and a simple Pooja.
Significance of Shivratri Pooja
Shivratri Pooja is given tremendous significance in Hindu mythology. It is considered that the ritual worship of Lord Shiva pleases him the most and the person is absolved from all of his past sins and receives salvation or Moksha. Shivratri holds different significant places in Hinduism, human lives and women. According to Hinduism, rituals performed by devotees on the 14th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Phalgun please Lord Shiva the most. The Pooja done in the morning time, in Lord Shiva's temple has very much significance as all the rituals are being conducted according to the method defined in Shiva Purana. Shivratri in human lives is of great importance as it frees the person from past sins and releases the person from the cycle of birth and death and helps in attaining salvation. To serve the purpose bilwa leaves, jujube fruits and flowers are offered to Lord Shiva by their devotees. For the women Shivratri Pooja brings a blissful and happy married life.

and for the year 2025 Shivratri pooja will be conducted on the 26th of February, 2025, Wednesday.
