Maa Katyayani is one of the incarnations of the goddess Durga and is worshipped on the 6th day of Navratri. Maa Katyayani gives relief to her devotees from the troubles and sufferings of their life.  The yogis and sadhakas for getting the agya chakra worship her. Their worship, including Online Puja, is in the form of penance. She enlightens the senses of her devotees and sets them free from all their sufferings.

According to Hindu mythology, it is said that the trinity of gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh created the goddess Durga with their powers when Mahishasur invaded heaven and overthrew gods from there.  At the same time, Sage Katyana, the Sage Kat’s son, performed an Online Puja and penance of maa durga for getting maa durga in the form of his daughter.

Maa Durga accepted his request and was born in the ashram of sage Katyayana as his daughter to fight demons and evils and save sages and gods. It is said that she took birth on Krishna Chaturdashi and sage Katyayan worshipped her on Shukla Saptami Ashtami and Navmi. On the tenth day, she killed Mahishasur and made the gods fearless. This day is celebrated as Vijayadashmi.

Significance of Maa Katyayani Puja:

Maa Katyayani is the daughter of Maa Durga, a loving daughter and the epitome of love. She is peace-loving but will not hesitate to stand against the unrighteous things and evils. She always rises up in anger to protect dharma and righteousness. It is believed that she always fights with the evils and bad entities.

Maa Katyayani Puja Procedure:

The puja of maa Katyayani leads her devotees towards the attainment of dharma, artha, kama and moksha. The sadhakas and devotees have to be careful during the puja. Maa wants the faith and devotion from her devotees. To please her sadhak has to attain an agya chakra in his mind before performing the 6th day puja with full rituals and devotion.

The goddess Katyayani is usually seated on a lion with one arm in the Abhay mudra and the other in the var mudra while in the rest of the two hands, she has weapons and a lotus.

On the 6th day of Navratri sadhak first worship the kalash and gods residing in it followed by the maa katayayani‘s worship with the mantras and flowers. After her worship, lord Brahma and Vishnu are also worshipped.
