The month of Shravan, Kartik, margshirsh and Paush of the Hindu calendar are the most suitable time for the pujan of land. It is necessary to worship the land before construction work starts. One should avoid Sunday, Saturday, and Tuesday while Monday and Thursday proves to be the best day for puja. One should also avoid the adhik maas, the zero month, lunar month and sunset. The favourable bhoomi pujan should not fall on the Hadpaksha, divaskarma, mourning period, shraadh paksha. For bhoomi pujan a 64-part diagram is drawn in the northeast part of the site, denoting vaastu purush using the seeds and colored powder. Each part is associated with the concerned deities and chants and offerings are made to all of them. A pit is dug nearby it and the first brick is laid down. An effigy of vaastu purush made of straw is burnt to kill the negative energy and evil spirits. The whole ceremony is to be done in the morning as it is the most auspicious time for bhoomi pujan.


Procedure to perform Bhoomi Pujan:


The required materials for Bhoomi Puja are as follows. The Kalash of Ganga jal, mango leaves, flower, roli {vermillion}, rice, turmeric, betel nut, durva {grass}, moli {kalava} etc. the place of puja is cleaned. The regular deities are placed on the raised platform in front of you. You should face towards the east direction while performing this puja. A Kalash with coconut draped in red cloth is placed which is to be put in the womb of the earth after puja.

Perform ganpati puja, navgrah puja, shodash matrika puja, small vishwakarma puja. Pay regards to the vaastu purush and Mother Earth. And perform puja with all customs and rituals followed by you strictly under the guidance of a good well-known pandit. These rituals include shatkarma, Sankalp, devi poojan, Bhoomi abhisinchan, pran pratishtha, and Manglik dravyasthapana. After all this anushthan perform arti of your deities and kul devta/devi and seek apologies repeatedly.
