Ayachita Vrata

As per the rituals, strict rules of fasting during this month advices the devotees not to ask anybody anything. The person has to be Yadrichchaalaaba Santrupta.

Dharana parana

Devotees can keep the fast on alternate days. This makes 15 days upavasa (Dharana) and 15 days bhojana (Paarna).

Tambula Daana

During Adhik Maas, if devotees donate tambool to brahmans and married women, the sins are removed and good luck follows.

Deepa daana

Apoopa daana

During this month, one has to donate 33 apoopa to brahmans daily. However, you can donate more than 33 if possible, but it should not be less than 33. If donating apoopa is not possible daily, you can donate them on certain days of the month. The favourable single days to make the donation are – Shukla Dwadashi, Poornima, Krishna Dwadashi, Amavasya, Krishna Paksha Ashtmi, Navmi and Chaturdashi. Along with Apoopa one must have same number of beetel leaves and dakshina. (Apoopa is an edible dish made up of Rice, sugar and ghee.)
